All the reports on this page are from events that took place in Massachusetts in 1999. Most recent update: 12/5/99.
Bruce Tilden investigated this report, published in "Filer's Files": "An Adams, Massachusetts police officer reports that on November 18, 1999, he observed 4 circles of light high in the cloudy sky above his home in rural Cheshire. The equidistant spaced lights formed a diamond and would rotate clockwise one quarter of a turn, then come together into one light. A second later, they would separate into the original pattern, again rotate clockwise one quarter turn, close together and so on. When the lights were apart they covered a 3 to 4 inch area at arm's length, and could be covered by the palm of the witness's hand. This event lasted for more than an hour and was witnessed by the officer's daughter, son, and the son's friend. Although no light shaft was seen shining up from the ground, the witness "called around" to see if there was some sort of an opening celebration where spotlights were being used. The result of this query was negative, and he was certain that the lights did not originate from the ground." www.ufoinfo.com
At 7:30 PM a single witness scouting deer in the woods near his home saw four triangular aircraft fly right past him in the bottom of a small valley. He said, "...They were totally silent and appeared to be sneaking through the valley." He estimated that the triangles were 75 feet long and 75 feet wide. They had no lights but the witness was close enough to see that they were illuminated on the inside. Suddenly, he saw three large planes noisily pursuing the UFOs. The witness also reported that on 10/20, he had glimpsed some identical objects going over a ridge but was not sure of what he had seen. (www.uforeports.com)
A triangular white and yellow UFO described as looking "kind of like when you look at a flashlight directly" was seen by a female student at about 7:25 PM. The report stated,"I was at band practice on the football field. The way we were facing, the sun was directly in front of us. I saw somthing pass slowly by and then disappear. My first instinct was that it was a plane with the reflection of the sun bouncing off and shining towards me. Then I realized the so-called "plane" passed IN BETWEEN me and the sun so it couldn't have reflected at me. I panicked. I told my friend but she didn't believe me. I was the only one who saw it." At 8:30 PM, two witnesses saw a UFO with "three bright orange to yellow lights in triangular formation." According to one witness, "It was just dark outside when I noticed three lights shining over the Connecticut River about 1/8 of a mile from my house. I ran in to get witness two and viewed the object through a sliding glass window. When I returned back outside to view it closer it disappeared without making any noise or disturbance of the water it was over." Additionally, the only glare cast by the object was seen directly beneath it. (www.uforeports.com)
Brian Hennessy said, "I saw several objects in the night sky that were cigar shaped, silver and with a metallic like substance to them. Over the past few weeks, I observed about seven of these objects in the evening sky from 7:00 to 8:45 PM. They always appear in the east and head towards the north. They are about 30 to 50 feet in length. I'm attempting to use my camcorder and film them." Filer's Files #32 8/11/99 (www/ufoinfo.com)
At around 8:15 or 8:20 PM, an extraordinary UFO sighting took place. Five tourists had just left a seafood restaurant when they saw a bright light in the sky. One witness, Tracy, related that "our attention was drawn to a bright light in the eastern sky. There was a slight haze, but the light penetrated it effortlessly. We at first thought it was an aircraft. Then, in a matter of seconds, this light moved to another point in the sky. We estimate the distance it traveled, in those few seconds, to be approximately ten miles, if not more. The light remained in this location about twenty to thirty seconds, then vanished from sight." Another witness, Robert M., continued, "A few moments later, it reappeared in the same position and then moved across the sky at an extremely high rate of speed to the East, near where we had first observed it. The light that beamed from it changed from a very intense white to a blue color that closely resembled that of a power transformer exploding. When the light went out, we were able to see the faint silhouette of a disk shaped object. The shape of this object reminded me of the space ship used in the "Lost In Space" TV series. After the object hovered for a few seconds, it rose straight up and disappeared from sight." Tracy estimated that the disc had a diameter of 150-200 feet, while Robert guessed that it was 300-400 feet in diameter, and about two miles away. Later, this sighting report was verified by a group of independent witnesses, a family of four from North Carolina. One of these witnesses, Paul H., said that the disc "resembled two pie pans, one inverted and on top of the other." He thought that the UFO was a mile away and 400-500 feet in diameter. At 7:55 PM, four witnesses in a private plane flying from New Hampshire saw a bright light 10-15 miles away. In a matter of seconds, it was right next to the plane, about 3/4 of a mile away and 1,500 feet above the aircraft. One witness stated, "Its shape was as if you took two pie pans, inverted one on top the other and placed a much smaller inverted pie pan on top. It was completely smooth and was dull gray in color. The other peculiar thing we all noticed about this craft, is that it had no windows and the once prominent light was now extinguished." The UFO did not set off the plane's aircraft avoidance system. After 30-40 seconds, "the craft went straight up and disappeared from sight. It did not tilt back and go up, it remained level while going upwards, until it was out of eyesight." "At 10:58 p.m., Stacy S. 'was looking through the second-story window of my home,' near John Parker Road in East Falmouth, Massachusetts (population 5,577) when 'I watched through the sheers strange double white lights resembling car headlights, across the sky through the maple trees. The craft came from the west, approximately at a 35 degree angle. Unfortunately, I had it in view only four or five seconds. As it approached my house, I could see that this aircraft was not making a sound. It was only slightly above the maple trees in my front yard, moving with absolutely no noise. It had a triangular shape with a large spotlight thing on each end of it with pulsating red lights underneath it. My mind was thinking that it's just an airplane, but its silence and fluid motion told me this was not so. As it rose above the treeline, it shifted slightly to the right and flew over our house until I could see it no longer. I am now convinced there are UFOs in the sky,' Stacy added, 'This was like nothing I have ever seen.' East Falmouth is on Cape Cod, just off Route 28 about 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Boston." Joseph Trainor, "UFO Roundup" vol.4 no.15 5/12/99 (www.ufoinfo.com/roundup)
